An increasing number of race tracks and/or track organizers (both 1/4 mile and road course) are requiring participants to have open-end lug nuts. The "issue" is that with all of
the aftermarket wheel choices, rotors, and spacers available, event organizers and race track owners want to see that your lug nuts are fully engaged on the studs. For
example if an enthusiast purchases wheel spacers that inhibit the FULL engagement of the nut onto the stud, this could be a significant safety issue. Although nice looking,
traditional closed-end lug nuts prohibit real inspection of the "lug nut onto lug" engagement. With this set-up, it is very easy to quickly see that all lug nuts are
fully engaged. The other pragmatic benefit of these ARP studs is that they are simply the "best" and for enthusiasts that are switching between street rims and tires
