The Tailgate Strut Kit is a complete, high-quality kit that provides factory-like improved functionality of the rear tailgate. The gas strut will prevent the tailgate from closing when parked on uneven surfaces. Similar to the almost identical struts used to lift the rear glass, the Tailgate Strut is easy to overcome when closing the gate. In fact, it is hard to notice a difference in the closing and latching operation of the gate. Once installed, you will wonder how you managed to live without it! The Tailgate Strut Kit has a factory-like appearance and is built to last the life of your Jeep. Careful engineering went into the best placement to use for the mounts as well as the mounting hardware itself. The mounts are rugged and built entirely of stainless steel. Even the provided fasteners are stainless steel. The kit includes complete color-illustrated instructions and every component you need for the install. The right drill bit is even included - sized perfectly for the provided hardware. Installation is a breeze and can be typically completed in less than 30 minutes. The Tailgate Strut Kit is very functional and completely unobtrusive. Choose the right opening/holding force for your Jeep. If you have the stock-size tire on the tailgate, choose our recommended "Std Duty" strut. If you have a larger/heavier tire on your tailgate, or if you want more holding power, choose the "Heavy Duty" option. "Extreme Duty" can be chosen for owners with very heavy tires or those who require maximum holding force. Note: The "Heavy Duty" and "Extreme Duty" strut options will both open the tailgate very quickly. Care should be taken when opening. The force is easy to overcome when closing and that doesn't present a problem, but the tailgate may open very quickly if you are not expecting it. Order the right option for your application.
